GEMS from HEAVEN: Revelation 4:3; 21:10-21
One of the worst things we can do is to compare ourselves to others as a standard of achievement. We either end up doing just enough to be better or we become decimated by our failure not reaching our God-given potential.
Here is the GEM: the true standard is the Christ. We are encouraged by Him through the apostle Paul to reach for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ. The key is, we must be “in Christ”. It is in Him we will reach higher heights because our past failures or successes will not be weighing us down enabling us to press forward. The prize or the goal is eternal life with God. Any standard set below God’s standard will miss the true prize of life.
Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
