GEMS From HEAVEN
In an electrical storm it is very wise to seek shelter for safety. It is then natural for us to seek the first shelter we come to and it is usually a tree. However, that kind of shelter does not always work out because it ends up being struck by lightning causing damage to the tree and to those that may be under it.
Here is the GEM: the true shelter for safety from the storms of life and sin is found in God and His counsel. But if we are stubborn and rebellious to that counsel, we will find ourselves going deeper and deeper into the depravity of sin to only find shame, humiliation and destruction. However, carrying out God’s counsel in our lives will lead to true safety, freedom and in the end, eternal life with Him. So, why not come out of sin and shame to the one who desires to shelter you from eternal destruction?
"Ah, stubborn children," declares the LORD, "who carry out a plan, but not mine, and who make an alliance, but not of my Spirit, that they may add sin to sin; who set out to go down to Egypt, without asking for my direction, to take refuge in the protection of Pharaoh and to seek shelter in the shadow of Egypt! Therefore shall the protection of Pharaoh turn to your shame, and the shelter in the shadow of Egypt to your humiliation.
